My friend
just hit 80 and I was wondering where her stats should be before having her heal heroic runs. I did some looking around but to no avail. Anyone have an idea?

the gear looks fine. i started heroics with only 1200 spell power and ~150 mp5 (~250 mp5 after pally buff and some food)
i agree with needing meditation. inner focus is a huge + too. get 5/5 spiritual healing and divine province.
to find points, take from Silent Resolve (healers don't have threat problems), Healing Focus (heals don't get hit), and Holy Reach (does not apply to greater heal or renew, which are the most-often-cast spells).
I would also recommend moving the 5 pts from Unbreakable Will (discipline) to Twin Discipline, which makes renew and prayer of mending bettter.
searing light & surge of light are dps talents.

Thanks for all the input, I've never played a priest so when I look at the talent tree it may as well be in Portuguese. I'll make sure she fixes her spec :)

Seriously? I was rocking those stats at level 70, dude.
time for a gear check I think, if you were 'rocking' those stats at 70 I'd be interested to know how much actualy progression you've made in heroics
No kidding... I'm at 1073 spell power and 165 mp/5 in mostly 75-80 blues. (Which, btw, hasn't given me a problem healing heroics... as disc though :P )

My recommendations for starting Heroics, entirely achievable using only quest items.
1000+ Bonus Healing
150+ MP5 in combat
utilising these talents;
Circle of Healing to the MAX!
NOTES:
No Inner Focus, why?
This gives you one Healing spell free every three minutes, once or twice per encounter normally. I believe there is more to be had from placing the points in a talent that you WILL always be using. However can be useful if used to keep you outside of the five second rule, and if you feel you must have it drop a point from Divine Providence.
No Surge of Light... are you mental!
Not really, and although I have tried it and found that it does proc often enough, it gives an instant cast Flash Heal (which I try not to cast anyway) it still triggers a global cooldown. So a 1.5 sec cast time versus a 1.5 sec global cooldown is of little benefit to the amount of healing you can throw out.
Another consideration are the choice of Major Glyphs, my recommendations are,
Major Glyph of...
Flash Heal
Power Word: Shield
Spirit of Redemption
or
Lightwell
Other useful advice
Place Renew on the tank from the start, and keep it up
Use Prayer of Mending regularly and in times of need re-apply on the tank even if the 'jumps' aren't finished
Greater Heal is the spam spell of choice for the tank, not forgetting to use Guardian Spirit if things are getting hairy
Place Lightwell and tell the DPS to use this for their heals, your job is to keep the tank up nothing else matters
If there is space in your rotation to heal DPS, pop a shield then place Renew, both instant casts so shouldn't take too much time but watch your mana

Although some people are finding that hard to believe, I also had 1200 spellpower and about 250mp5 unbuffed at the end of TBC. That was in mostly T6 and badge loot, which got replaced by 78, so it makes it hard for me to understand how some people can have less than that while wearing level 80 blues.

Me personally I do not have 150 mp5, I was commenting to the OPs request for starting stats for heroics.
To address your comments on Inner Focus, yes 25% spell crit is a nice bonus and if used with PoH then it has the potential to be a Party saver, but in my experience those times are few and far between as i tend to react before then. I prefer to spend my talent points where they will be utilised most often.
And for an instant Flash Heal, whilst nice and mana free my problem lies with the global cooldown on this spell. Why bother, if your Greater Heals aren't enough to recover the tank then your in trouble already and wasting the 1.5secs on a Flash Heal would be better spent casting up the next Greater Heal. The proc on this should be removed from the global cooldown THEN it would be in my talent build!
But as you rightly point out we all pick the way we want to play, and my style is what I'm most comfortable with.

An instant flasheal after a greatheal is amazing, topping your tank up is superior to anything for just 2 points!
That's not that half of it. Its an instant Flash heal in the next 10 seconds. Meaning, I get time 9.8 seconds to decide where to deliver it to the best person at the best time. With an addon like Need To Know, you can really time it well.

These are stats made after the reduction to +heals, anyone at 1200 after the nerf was most likey at 2k heals.
this is at least 4/5 t4 and decent amount of island badge gear with max enchants and gems.
