Hey guys! Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this, im still getting used to the WoWhead forums :P
basically, when i dinged 70 with my mage i was to busy concentrating on making money that i never did Heroics. So my question is, When do you know you are ready for Heroics? is there gear requirements needed or certain spell damage needed? also never raided which i hope to do in WotLK, so when will i be ready for Raiding? once im full of heroic gear or do i need to be full epic?
again sorry if this is the wrong place for this, im new here XD

ANY
Raids or Heroics. Now at 80, I'm planning on doing them all :D

I'd liek to overstress this a fair ammount. Whilst it is possible to do most heroics in quest lues with a good group, alot of the fights are, whist not overly technical - rather specific. You often get into DPS Races where you've to get the mobs down fast, for which you'll need good dps/gear (Violet Hold HC).
The other side is fights like AN Final boss where you have too:
1. dodge Pound
2. Gank boss hard
3. Kill spawned adds FAST whilst dodging groundspikes.
4. control venomspiders and kill them before thyey wipe you
over and over again. It's fairly hard work and it's best if you've done the basic (nonHC) fight several times to know what is coming.
That said, I don't want to come across elitist and stuff - if you are with a good (eg guild :)) group you should be able to pick it up. You will wipe, probably quite alot, but it'll be fun.
You don't come across as elitist but you are talking about one of the hardest heroics there is :)
That last boss in AN heroic is a VERY intense fight, no matter what gear you have.
But you are right in that going to do normal level 80 dungeons is the first step to doing heroics - Utgarde Pinnacle, Halls of Lightning, Oculus (not for the faint-hearted at any level by the way)
