I am sitting at 47-52% without Holy Shield and have no trouble doing 10-man raids.
I heard the average minimum was around 45%, but to be honest, none of the discussions I've read around here talks about minimum avoidance required. All you really need is health pool and uncrittability - avoidance tends to come by itself from your gear.

I think it's dodge+parry+block+miss+holy shield. With miss equals to 10% and holy shield 30%.
And my two cents about this subject. You should do fine enough with about 80% avoidance in heroics. Personnaly i try not to fall down below 90% before stacking stam on my gears. But it is true that at the end of the day, avoidance will come naturally with upgrades.
My paly is sitting at about 91-92% with holy shield up.

Oh! So you add 10% chance to miss too? I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. Here I thought I was gonna go crazy trying to reach the reocmmend amounts. lol My stats are, unbuffed
