Hello and thank you for clicking this thread. Now let me get to the topic at hand.
On my sever (Thrall US A) I hide somewhere in a city (most of the time stormwind) and offer a prize to the first person to find me. It gets people active
but here is the issue, people have started to mimic me. And some of their spots seem unfair to me. Jumping up the side of a wall in valley of heroes.
My rules for it so far have been you can get there on foot. And not inside a building. And no invisibility (shadowmeld, and such)
Some of my issues with these rule are: Can I run thought a building to somewhere outside, and define outside?
Now I could use other people thoughts thank you.

i have too agree, playing hide and seek in WoW is nothing new an has excisted since vanilla.
the person who hides and turns out rewards is the person who decides on the rules, and the rules might differ from each person. if you dnt agree with their rules dont participate with their game.

He is asking for opinions on a rule for his own game of hide and seek. He merely stated his opinion that there should be some rules, specifically against the things some of the others do.

after which his question came, and i aswered the question.

I want the game as fun a possible. To make that happen I need many view points. Are there any rules you would add or change but still keep it open to everyone.

personally i always went the rules:
- city X , im allowed too hide in and outdoors.
- im allowed too use stealth/camouflage/prowl (and i used the old aspect of the beast in wotlk, it made you untrackable)
- as long it was reachable through decent ways (not going through walls or something similiar sneaky) it was allowed.
sometimes i had a requirement to be met: do a /emote (or several in correct order) to be paid out.
feel free too take any of them, in the end its your game and im not gonna choose what works for you. you should do that yourself.

well, i did trivia and gave out prizes. i would list the prize first and state that only one person could win one prize per day. I always stated that i was the final say, even if everyone did not agree with what was the correct answer.
to make hide and seek fair, because addons can give an unfair advantage, this is what i would do.
1. create a macro of the rules. this could list level requirements, forms of travel, time limits, etc.
2. pick locations that are not normally populated so there is a sense that the person actually had to travel to find you. the more difficult, the better the prize.
3. announce the prize so players know its not a scam or they are being trolled.
4. i would pick a random number and state, player number 4 or whatever that opens trade with me will get the prize. my thinking is that it keeps it fair to the ones that don't do addons or ingame searches. the one that gets there first might bend the rules or be closest
i've been pretty bored in-game so mabe i'll try some hide and seek and see how it goes.
another way is, set your hearthstone to a random spot. get in a group with four others. you all go to the same spot. then you leave the group and hearth. first one to find you, wins.

Assume that people are going to "cheat" as much as possible within the spirit of any rules you design as long as they follow the letter of the same rules.
