I wrote up a guide for fledgling hunters who are looking to start raiding.
Enjoy.
Here's the quick and easy.
*NOTE: This guide is for Hunters. Some advice may not pretain to your class. Also, I'm personally a Horde hunter. So feel free to correct me on points that are either- A) Not available for the Alliance, or B) There is an easier/better way for the Alliance.*
Step 1- Get your butt to Kara, and start your attunement quest. Get to the point where you have to retrieve the first key fragment.
Step 2- Start doing level 70 instances. This includes:
Hellfire Citadel: Shattered Halls
Auchindoun: Shadow Labyrinth
Caverns of Time: Black Morass (Shown in game as "Caverns of Time: Dark portal")
Coilfang Reservoir: Steamvault
The following instances require a flying mount (It seems warlocks can no longer summon people to the platforms):
Tempest Keep: The Mechanar
Tempest Keep: The Botanica
Tempest Keep: The Arcatraz
Grind those until you have at least 2/5 of your D3 set (Beast Lord), and have replaced about half your gear. This will also help you to learn the instances for the third step.
Step 2.5- While doing these instances, get your key fragments.
*Each Key fragment is in a container in one of the level 70 instances. Upon opening the container, a level 70 elite elemental will spawn. You will loot the key fragment from it's corpse. Everyone in the party requiring the fragment will be able to loot it from the corpse... this is not a "1 quest item loot per kill" type mob.*
The first key fragment is in a container to the left of the final boss of SHADOW LABYRINTH.
-You must then go turn it into Khadgar, an old man standing next to A'dal (The naaru A.K.A. "big shiny thing") in the middle of Shattrath City.
The second key fragment is in a container in THE STEAMVAULT. It is in the water right in front of the first boss. You will need to swim down a bit to see it. You DO NOT need to fight the boss to get it.
-You do NOT have to talk to Khadgar after this, as the quest needs both the second and third key fragments to turn it in.
The third key fragment is in THE ARCATRAZ. Fight your way up the ramp next to the first boss, and make a hard right into the room at the end of the ramp. You may have to fight 1 or 2 of the void creatures there. The container is in the corner of the room. You DO NOT need to fight the boss to get it.
-You must then take the second and third key fragments and turn them into Khadgar.
You will then need to go to BLACK MORASS (Shown in the Looking for Group interface as "Caverns of Time: Dark Portal") to get the key activated. To gain access to Black Morass, you need to complete the quest in Caverns of Time: Durnhold keep, freeing Thrall and then keeping him alive. The quest is complete upon the death of the Epoch Hunter (Third and final boss of the instance).
After completing the Durnhold quest, you need to complete Black Morass, and talk to Medivh to have him active the key.
Take it back to Khadgar, and BAM!... Attuned for Kara :)
But we're not done yet!
Step 3- By now, you should be fairly well geared (All blues or higher, except maybe your ammo). IT R BE HEROIX TEIMZ NAO!
Start off with some easy heroics (The Mechanar, Slave Pens, and Underbog are all good ones to start with), and begin building up a supply of Badge of Justice, along with some epic gear from the instances.
During this step, you may find it beneficial to grind rep in some of the regular level 70 instances to get certain rewards (Glyph of Ferocity and Marksman's bow /Veteran's Musket come to mind ~_^ ). This is a good idea :)
After that, find yourself a group or guild for Kara, and have fun :D
Also, to knock out the whole "Scryer versus Aldor" question- I suggest ALDOR. They have more hunter-beneficial gear then the scryer in my opinion.

Not worth wasting the gold on Valanos (Unless it's something ridiculously cheap like 5 gold, and then you should buy it for that 5g, shard it, and sell the shard =| ).
If you're in a decent guild, see if you can't organize some rep runs. If not, PUG it.
You'll get at least 2k rep per run (Assuming you clear everything), more if you have a
Thrallmar Favor
or if the
Nazgrel's Fervor
buff is in effect.
My suggestion for SH rep runs is:
Pally tank
Any healer (Shammy a bit preferred due to totem buffs)
Yourself
Any combo of- Mages/Warlocks (For their AoE DPS).
Also helps if you have an enchanter in the group to DE trash blues.
Keep in mind, while you're grinding, there are several good hunter items that can drop.
Skyfire Hawk-Bow
- Decent upgrade until you get marksman's bow
Beast Lord Hanguards
- Hunter D3 set gloves. Quite nice.
Telaari hunting Girdle
- A decent belt until you get exalted(?) with the sha'tar to get the blessed scale girdle.
Cloak of Malice
- Excellent cloak. I still use this (While saving heroics badges for my Blood Knight War Cloak) at level 70 and raiding Kara.
And
Guantlets of Desolation
- Alternate D3 set. This one is good for anyone, and when I was level 70, getting geared and doing heroics, I found it was good to mix the Desolation set and Beast lord set. I used the BL helmet and the BL shoulders, as well as the Deso pants and the Deso gloves. Nice +35 hit rating :D

I should also add that your shattered halls runs should go fairly quick, about an hour (Give or take a little) with an experienced/geared group.

Well... one could argue that enchanting is both crafting and gathering :)
