The question is: What's the best flask for a holy paladin?
The question is: Who cares?
I do care and so I'm writing this thread.
As a holy paladin mindlessly stacking intellect, I had a hard decision:
Flask of the Frost WyrmFlask of Pure MojoIt was either 125 SP, which is not bad, which is in fact quite good, but... you know, when you get into a point where spamming FoL is no longer viable, you soon find out that all the SP you need is already on your gear.
Or 45 Mp5. Not bad, again. It's 540 mana per minute. Thats, well, hmm, one HL per two minutes?
Sooo... is that all? In desperate attemp to get something bigger, better and hopefuly cheaper, I looked onto "weaker" stuff:
Elixir of Mighty ThoughtsElixir of GuruElixirs. Bad stuff. But... 65 intelect! Plus some trash stats (you know, agility and strenght for those huge white crit numbers).
Or:
Elixir of SpellpowerResulting in 45 INT + 58 SP, which is probably better.
But still, they are just elixirs. Isn't there something better? Like
Flask of Distilled Wisdom?
Here we are, back at 65 intelect. But this time, it's a flask. An old one.
Following a (personal) rule
INT = 2SPthe intellect offered by the flask is quite on par with the spellpower one (like 16 INT vs 30 SP enchant, or 30 INT vs 63 SP enchant), which implies a question whether it's worth all the trouble.
Is it worth all the
trouble?
Maybe.
And what if...
Mixologykicks in?
With a passive bonus of 47 SP to SP flask like from
Flask of the Northyou end with 172 pure SP from the Frost Wyrm. But what happens to the intellect? Heavy testing showed that 65 INT gets buffed by a huge amount of bonus 32 INT. And whats more,
BoK buffs it to an insanely insane amount of total
106 INT!
Much better than 172 SP.
(the result is the same with the two +int elixirs above)
I still have to test the mixology bonus when combining different elixirs, but if it's a flask, the winner is clear for me.
All hail
Flask of Distilled Wisdom!
PS: the recipe is also a low chance
drop, sometimes available on AH.

Socket Bracer with
Brilliant King's Amber +
Socket Glove with
Brilliant King's AmberThat's 40 intellect that you won't get unless you're a blacksmith. (20 x 2 = 40)
Brilliant Dragon's Eye x 3
That's 36 intellect you wouldn't get unless you're a Jewelcrafter. (32 - 20) x 3 = 36
Edit: duhI find those two professions to have better profit margins on the items they sell, too. No chance at procs tho. :[
To be honest, I think Alchemy is a very good profession to have available, but it deserves a better Intellect buff.
The Flask of Distilled Wisdom recipe is also available as a Rep reward with the
Cenarion Expedition at Exalted. If you raided during TBC you'll probably have gotten this faction to Exalted for the freebie flasks from your Shattrath faction and the easy repair outside of SSC.

With a passive bonus of 47 SP to SP flask like from
Flask of the NorthFlasks shouldn't stack. If it does, it's probably a bug.
65 + 32 int * 1.1 talents * 1.1 Kings = 117
So it's probably not 32 int bonus, but the talent skewing your results.

Ha, you are right, I absolutely forgot the talent. Nevertheless, the intelect is still there and it is still better than the SP no matter how you got to the final number. The flasks, of course, do not stack, but the bonus from the North flask is the same as the Mixology bonus (obviously). Flask of the North is only available to alchemist, as is Mixology.

Flasks don't stack and
Flask of the North is so alchemists don't lose out on their profession bonus in places where consumables can not be used; only WotLK elixirs and flasks were recently buffed with
Mixology which are as follows:
Flask of the Frost Wyrm = 163 sp
Flask of Pure Mojo = 65 mp5
Flask of Distilled Wisdom = 85 intellect
Elixir of Mighty Thoughts = 65 intellect
Elixir of Lightning Speed = 65 haste
Elixir of Guru = 28 all stats
Elixir of Spellpower = 81 sp
So the intellect and stats elixir combination is 8 more intellect than the intellect flask. I personally use intellect and haste elixirs as holy.
Flask of Distilled Wisdom = 85 intellect
65 intellect (with kings and divine intellect) = 78.65 intellect
65 intellect (with mixology) = 85 intellect (with kings and divine intellect) = 102.85 intellect
78.65 intellect grants 1179.75 mana initially which supplies 11.8 mp5 from replenishment and 24.58 mp5 from divine plea if used on cooldown for a total of 36.38 mp5
112.53 intellect grants 1542.75 mana initially which supplies 15.43 mp5 from replenishment and 32.14 mp5 from divine plea if used on cooldown for a total of 47.57 mp5
