Buddy of mine is getting burnt-out/disheartened with shadow. His gear isn't that great and he's jealous of my prot warrior doing all the slammin. He's looking into just going for a healing/damage hybrid to keep me up for mass quest grinding (kill 15 boars? ok, lets round up all up and tank em all down) and also to keep a bit of damage potential in case we need to try to burn thing(s) down ASAP. I did a bit of playing around and came up with this:

It looks to also keep him from having to stop and drink as much, which is another thing that bugs him with his shadow priest. Thoughts?

For AoE grinding, Holy Nova reigns supreme.
You don't need Spirit Tap, because you can simply drink after a huge pull. Also...since you are AoEing them down at the same rate...It would proc at the end when it is needed the least.
The main empahsis of this build is to gather up swarms of enemies, pop Power Infusion/trinkets, let loose a storm of Holy Nova, and kill large groups of enemies at a time.
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=bVcbdhxtr0oZfxt0cbqbPW:S is there to help shield you/the tank if it looks like the healing from Holy Nova isnt keeping up with the incoming dmg. It will provide enough absorbtion to be able to catch up.
Enlightenment isnt needed so much as Holy Nova is instant cast, and the spirit gain would be pretty marginal...spamming Holy Nova doesn't leave much time for regen. For this reason, Mental Strength is taken in its place to gain a greater mana pool and more crit.
Power Infusion will allow him to cast Holy Nova cheaper and faster.
Focused Power obviously increased the dmg output.
Improved Divine Spirit, while not a good raid buff as it doesnt stack with shaman totems, helps while leveling individually.
Surge of Light is just there to help in those times of having to dps single targets down.
Improved healing adds some dungeon healing capability.
As I was leveling...I was able to AoE down swarms of enemies at a time. Even without the +10% from searing light, Holy Nova has the power to down groups at a time. This build should provide more than you need to tank and aoe down groups.
Best part is...Holy nova causes
no threat. Also, priest doesn't even need a tank for holy nova grinding as holy nova
heals as well as dmgs.

On a side note....
DPSing as Holy/Disc is a terrible Idea....at least for dungeon bosses/raids.
As holy/disc, there are absolutely no talents that increase hit chance, so you will need like
446 hit rating or you will miss a huge percentage of the time.
Added onto that....Unlike every other caster that has some sort of mana regen (
Evocation,
Lifetap) Holy/Disc only has Shadowfiend, which will leave you OOM.
The only real viability that Holy/Disc has for raid DPS potential is Holy Nova spamming on trash pulls. Because then atleast, when the priest is OOM they can drink up for next pull.
Im pretty sure that you were asking for a Holy DPS leveling build, so all of this is moot though.
