HotR misses and parry/dodges are currently not being recorded on the combat log or damage meters. When the single target portion fails to hit (Except for immunities, for some reason), the AE part will not trigger.

HotR And CS generate HP even if you miss.
Just to expand on this further, the use of HotR / CS will always generate HP as long as it goes off. Even if it misses/is parried/dodged you still get HP. Even using it on mobs that are immune to damage will still give you HP.
Too right! Build your HP on bubbled/etc targets (unless of course that bubble/etc stacks an icky debuff)... it's heap big fun in PvP.... 'haha silly pally hitting me when I'm bubbled... bubble off... owie!'
