Return to board index

Lets say I wanted to link: The Rock. (
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=7337
)
How would I link it so that you can put the mouse over the text and it's stats will appear?

Open a new chat message by pressing enter and shift click an item(or recipie, or other item link, ...) to add it as a link. Note that not all chat channels allow you to link items.

Hmm, I think the OP was actually asking how to put links into the Wowhead forums.
Copy the URL as you did with your example above, but instead of just pasting it into your post, highlight the text you want to link then click the 'Link' button (world+chain icon) and paste the URL there.

How do you post in game links via chat? I know that if I have the item I can shift link it but what about an item that I only know the name?
See neura's post. There are also a couple of different addons which will allow you to look up and link items by name.

You can use the Live Preview when posting a reply, no need to make a new post for a test only.

Neura is a genius <3 Now to figure out how to link inside a forum post.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##sas148##DELIM##Voxi, welcome to Wowhead! Please review our regarding "necro's" which states:
"Posting in an old thread, or "necro-ing," is a mixed bag. We understand that there's relevant information in a post even several patches later and we don't want you to make duplicate threads on the same topic. However, in the event that the necro doesn't contribute to the community, it will be locked and a warning will be issued. Making a new thread is encouraged if the thread you wish to reply to contains outdated information or is extremely old (e.g. from last year or older)."
This is the second thread you posted on that is over a year old. If you have something to contribute to the forums, don't hesitate to create a new thread or respond to a recent one. Thank you!
