Other hunters you pretty much wanna keep them (or their pet) trapped or feared while you kill the other, and then focus on the other (unless you decided to kill the hunter) And hope they don't out gear/skill you.
As for locks, generally I try to keep viper sting up on them, even if the amount it drains is minimal; its still some they have to get back later, It all depends on the encounter, I generally blow intimidation early in both fights to get some distance.

Feighn death, use it to drop aggro from their pet and make them loose you as a target. When they loose their target, they will automatically target whoever hits them next (your pet). This can also be used to mess up an eventual aimed shot, as loosing their target this way will make it fail.
