How much dps should I be doing?

My main question is with the details of timing....when to use what spell to fully maximize my DPS. My sequence is the usual Arcane 4xAB - AM (MB procs)...In Gundrak for instance i only do 2.9 k dps and I feel it should be more. in raids its oviusly higher but I am seeing mages with almost similar gear pulling 5k dps when im only doing 4.2k. I have a macro that allows me to pop arcane power and icy veins at the same time along with some enchantments, gems etc.... when is the best time to pop my CD's?

I do use my PVE specc...my PvP specc is activated and is not the problem :)

I have about comprable gear and I pull around 4-5k in heroics and 6k in raids.

Use Rawr. Import your character, set your buffs, configure the fight, look to see what your optimal DPS is.
