As a Death Knight:
- Try to pop up Icebound Fortitude before he uses his 5s HoJ stun, or at least use it in a critical time where you must not be stunned. Be warned, IBF does not protect against his Repentance.
- Using Anti-Magic Shell will block out both Repentance AND Hammer of Justice, as well as debuffs. If you've already got some Pally debuffs on you, don't fret. AMS will still mitigate a lot of potential damage. If glyphed, this will last for ten seconds.
- Unholy Presence is recommended for general PVP purposes. However, if your survivability is extremely lacking, you may want to start fights with Frost Presence (which will be buffed next patch), although your burst damage and kiting/chasing capabilities will be hurt.
- Frost Death Knights have a huge advantage over Unholy Death Knights when 1v1ing Ret Pallies for one reason: Hungering Cold. I find it best used defensively. When you see Angel Wings, an orbiting Diablo II hammer, and some electricity coming out of the Paladin, now may be a good time to Hungering Cold -> Chains of Ice -> Run away & Trinket if he uses Repentance/HoJ on you. This will hopefully have him waste his offensive cooldowns and, if he already popped his PVP trinket/HoJ/Repentance, the more power to you as you are free to bandage or Shadowmeld -> Eat while he's frozen. Unholy Presence recommended before using Hungering Cold.
- When you see it fit to burst the Paladin down (such as if he's recently used Angel Wings and is on low health or already has popped bubble), be sure to use everything in your disposal. For Frost, you're gonna want to use Winter's Chill for a guaranteed crit, have plagues up, have a good amount of RP saved, Strangulate, and hopefully Empower Rune Weapon. If done in rapid succession (with the help of Unholy Presence, of course), this can result in tons of damage. Icy Touch - > Plague Strike diseases on, Howling Blast/Obliterate guaranteed crit, runes automatically refilled, 2 more Obliterate/HBs (3 if you got death runes), and Frost Strike spam with Mind Freeze/Strangulate kept in handy if he tries to heal. For Unholy, you're gonna want to use Gargoyle, Ghoul Stun, and Scourge Strike. Keep your RP up for your Gargoyle to wreak havoc.
You'll need a lot of control to be able to consistently defeat ret paladins in duels/100% conditions. I've had even a level 70 with 2.3k AP kill me in mere seconds when I didn't bother using any cooldowns. However, making use of all my tools made the fight against the 70 pally trivial, and against most 80s doable.

Not to mention if u get a bubble off I just walk away and wait for it to wear off by hitting u with Chains of Ice.
Doesnt bubble protect from chains? Even if it doesnt, pala just pops freedom thing.
