How to link wow items onto comments?

I would like to know how to do this. I just need to figuire out how to usefind the item ID on wowhead

The item ID is the number in the URL (page address) after wowhead.com/item=
e.g. the full URL for
Shadowmourne
is
http://www.wowhead.com/item=49623
so the item ID is 49623.
You can either use that number with the "Links" dropdown and select "Item...", or type \
Shadowmourne
right away. Note that the URL is structured the same way, in fact, you can link spells, NPCs, zones, factions, and several other types of entries in the database.

Apparently the icon and name are not displayed anymore? Or it's only in the comment preview?

The comment preview doesn't fetch the icon and name if the item wasn't already linked somewhere else on the page, but it should always work when you submit the comment/reply.
