i'd say that's the ultimate cat spec (i have the 51st BM points btw)
having the 51 BM talent point does nothing for the pet as far as DPS. you can get just as much with 16 points than you can with 20. i would only get beast mastery if i was getting a devilsaur.

Glad to see I am not the only one ^^
I love being able to tame exotic pets (even if I haven't found any I am too fond of yet), so forget Readiness. I still top DPS, I still get tons o' raid invites, and much more importantly, I am having fun =D

I have the 51st BM talent too, the extra 4 talent points for my pet are really nice to have. Essential, no, not at all, but useful nonetheless. At 80 my Spirit Beast has all three top-tier talents plus charge and dash and a few others.
By no means is it vital, or even optimal (I do have a Spirit Beast after all....), but I like the diversity and flexibility.
