Your post is labeled Hunters: Master of None, however hunters are DPS, plain and simple.
Everything you posted has nothing to do with dps.
Crowd control? Defensive abilities? REVIVE PET?

Cmon bro...
For this thread I am going to describe the
utility
/abilities that a Hunter (not so much the pet, I will explain why below) has that I find to be far inferior to other abilities.
Utility =/= dps.
Also, Revive Pet in a way does actually tie in to how our dps works considering our pet is a large percentage of our dps and if it dies, you spend an age making sure you can maximize (and before you say lolbad, there were some really annoying pet-killer mechanics like on Mimiron where even with some relatively decent pet management it will still die).
Very nice and detailed QQ. A QQ is still a QQ.
Hunters have a large number of imprefect tools. Show me a class with so many kiting/cc and defensive cooldowns. Seriously? Show me a class with more tools. What kind of CC do warriors have? What other classes have permanent pets? Lock? One mage spec? One DK spec? What classes can instatnly move away from an enemy or move the enemy away by simply using 1 gcd? 1 shaman spec, 1 druid spec and mages. You are basically listing a number of good hunter skills and whining that some classes have similar, but "better" skills. I bet you'd LOVE to have an instant free heal, druid forms (OMG! aspects are not as good as forms! oh noez!), five pets at once at your disposal (to cover most buffs, as 1 pet buff is not enough), portals to every city ingame, waterwalking, cloak of shadows, plate armor, shoot lightningz and moar melee skillz for when you want to hack someone with an axe.
On the bright side: I see you put a lot of work in the post, but your complaints shuld be rejected as groundless considering the fact that there is no class with so many defensive/offensive and CC skills. There is no perfect class, face it.
/feed troll
I could probably kite with Howling Blast on my DK if I spec it properly.
Also, Warlocks can kite decently (Curse of Exhaustion + DoTs)
Frost Mages can definitely kite.
I'm not asking to become another class, but it is infuriating when you're the only class without X while every other class has it, or it's so feeble it's difficult to consider it comparable to what other classes have.
Also, I forgot to compare Misdirection and Tricks..lol.

I read the whole post and even thou its a huge QQ I agree with Interest. Compared to other classes that have their toolbars simplified Hunters have to press a bazillion buttons to perform an action that takes 3 moves for a rogue. Hunters were overpowered for a long time I guess this is Karma being a %^&*! now, lets just hope they buff the class soon. On the bright side, at least this will discourage people from rolling the most overused class ever (did for me, i was gonna play forsaken hunter now i started a goblin shaman instead :P).

Not sure why that would make you sad. Why would you think I was kidding?
If he labeled his post "Hunter secondary abilities need work." that would be fine, but labeling it "Masters of None" implies he wants us to be masters of CC, or defensive abilities, etc.

Eh, I just like putting thread titles like that.

You really are a condescending punk arent you? Using titles that dont pertain to your topic wouldnt be considered good titles.

"Condescending punk". I see. What does that make you? A loud-mouth idiot?
And, it really does relate. Stop taking it so literally. It's a thread about how Hunters abilities pale in comparison to similar abilities of other classes.
Therefore, we are a master of none. It isn't literal.

I DEMAND that Wowhead hire someone with, at least, an english college degree to fix ALL of your poor wrong posts in this highly evolved grammar thread...
Oh, wait, it's not a grammar thread!

Interest: Your title is a broken phrase, its goes "Jack of all trades, Master of none" which applies to hunters pretty well, you list all your abilities<which is alot> and then list classes that have a better version, but how many of those classes with a better version have all the abilities you listed? You dont get to do every single thing and then do them equal or better then someone else who cant.
Man, that's exactly what he ment by saying "Master of None", hunters do a lot of tricks, but the majority of them in the end are kind of disapointing... as none of them are the best in what it proposes.
oOh, and Interest, in response to your problem with trap launcher, it is easy to make a macro for each trap that activates trap launcher and then the desired trap in one push, requiring only clicking on the ground afterwards to place the trap. If you find clicking the ground to target difficult in battle you are not alone, but locks and mages have dealt with it for years and hunters and druids should learn to enjoy the times when it actualy pays off.
Please, enlight us with that marvelous macro... that will make hunters so happy, because 2 clicks is more than 30% better than 3 clicks! And 30% is A LOT!

Well we've also dealt with the targeted abilities. It's called Volley and before they implemented Trap Launcher, Freezing Arrow.
I would like to know what this macro is, btw.
You also compared other classes ability to kite, the Warlock example requires a certain spec and relies on the damage of 2 dots as compared to the vast list of instant cast abilities of the hunter, which can do so in all specs, and the Mage example also requires a spec which until recently was useless in groups and still remains suspect until we can see further into Cataclysm.
Yes, except all 3 Mage specs have some way to kite, so the point is rather moot.
All 3 Warlock specs also have some way to kite.
