Our fire totems cause no threat in 3.0.8 and they say that magma totem will be scaling much more with your spell power, I doubt it will be as powerful as volley or blizzard but we can't have everything.

Just think how nice it will for low level instance farming.
Run ZF, gather almost the whole instance chasing you, ghost wolf ahead. When you have a good lead, drop earth elemental and magma totem and start healing the elemental like crazy. You could clear the whole place in no time. Gather a million mageweave to sell because people are addicted to buying it at high prices(don't know why). De all the drops for vision dust because people are addicted to buying it at high prices(don't know why).
I just tried resto and I think I'll run ZF, aggro the whole place and earthshield/spam heal myself with a ZERO threat totem.
Maybe, just maybe, this will also help the resto shaman in questing as I found out you have no attack ability really. Your just a cute cow that everyone can pat on the head.

Try playing it like elemental. With lava burst, lightning bolt and chain lightining you do relatively well.

Totems are pets.
Pets don't tag mobs.
Untagged mobs don't drop loot.
