If you just want honor, try Wintergrasp.
Yesterday, I got 4.8k honor in one WG loss (was on Defence).
If you have a leatherworker friend, try making the lvl 78 blues that you can buy from the dwarf for 2 Heavy B leather each. That resilience will help you a lot.
ps: Skinning / Jewelcrafting is a really weird combo.

also, keep PvPing. It takes time getting used to. Ranwalk said alot of things you should pay attention to. Also, do instances when you arent pvping, you can get some upgrades you need.
