I was under the impression that you got 30 days free with expansions?

I recall getting 30 days free when I bought Cataclysm, why is MoP any different? I was actually asked by the store attendant if I wanted to purchase additional game time, but declined, thinking I would get 30 days free.

It was my own negligence, but still. It makes getting back into WoW for us former subscribed played more expensive and more difficult.

None of the expansions came with 30 days, only the base game.

if you started in cataclysm, you'd have gotten 30 days for starting a new account, adding a second, third, fourth expansion after the fact gives you nothing but access to content.

You'd have to pay $15 extra for a one month sub on top of the $50 (?) MoP costs, so it's not really all that more expensive. I don't quite see how having to pay for a sub makes returning any more difficult though?

More difficult at least in the sense that if they assume there's extra game time with an expansion, they'll have to do something (like go back to the gameshop) to get playtime. And 15 monies on top of an expected 50 monies is an increase of 30% - which could be argued as 'really all that more expensive' if one wants to get into the subjectivity of that. :)

I guess Blizz expects the greatness of the game to speak for itself.

That's true. Always best to verify before going to the store if you're unsure though, to avoid unpleasant surprises such as this one.

Yeah... you get 30 free days when you create a full account, or upgrade a starter account to full. You don't get jack for buying an expansion, except the expansion itself.
