Ideas for expansion of Wowhead

Since you guys are THE goto spot for pretty much anything data-related to WoW and servers are down - I figured I'd pass some ideas your way and see what kind of feedback you have on them.

Wowhead Addon Database - You guys already excel in data, I'd love to see the same tactic taken with addons however I could see how this could require an infastructure upgrade as downloading files is probably a bit more overhead than serving up text/images. - The benefit I could see to this that no other addon site has taken advantage of is allowance of some sort of system where addon authors could get some sort of revenue sharing from advertisements. I know it's a long shot but I thought I'd mention it. It would encourage addon authors to use your site over others, and would encourage people to make addons as well.
Wowhead Chat-client - Yeah, I know - there are a million chat-clients out there that we *could* use, but I for one pretty much just chat on WoW now. No AIM, No MySpaceIM, none of that. I constantly find myself wishing blizzard would release a chat-client that you could log into to talk to buddies that were in-game while you were out-of-game. - Obviously blizzard would be much better suited for this task, but maybe you guys could come up with something? (I have a feeling blizzard doesn't do this because if someone were to message a friend who wasn't online, but had this thing auto-run on startup, they'd have more people actually logged in, using their servers. And lets face it, they want as many people paying the $15/mo as possible, and as FEW people actually logging in as possible within reason of course.)
Wowhead Javascript IRC client - Most people don't want to download (I'm talking the general-public here) mIRC and join the chat on there, and most are probably at least slightly confused on how to use IRC properly. Any way to get a multi-room chat server ala the forums, potentially divided into sections, etc or would that require too much moderation?

On top of this all, I understand you guys are VERY busy sorting through data and tweaking the database - but I figured maybe I'd pass some ideas your way. You guys did originally start Wowhead on your own, it's possible you would be interested in another project like this. ;)

My thoughts:

For the first, we're actually partnered with Wowinterface.com for this. I'm a big fan of the crew over there, and I'd rather push more traffic to them than try and bring that traffic to Wowhead.

As far as the second, that's something I've always wanted myself. I'm not sure if it's possible though, it would require us to get into Blizzard's servers in a way I can't imagine they'd let us have access to.

The third is a possibility, though I have to admit I have a few other things I want to get finished first. :)

Just do what Xfire does and have everyone get a third party program that can overlay chat over WoW.

I’m glad you don’t plan to support addons. The last time a site offered just too many things, it became very unpersonal, too big and the single features didn't come to it's full use. I don’t visit Curse.com any longer for these reasons.

Wowhead is so valuable because it is simple and all the features are useful. :)
