Welcome to Wowhead, Leopardl =D
The term 'hardcore' can define many people in WoW. Such as (but not limited to):
Hardcore Raiding: raiding for hours and hours, and often times getting insulted and into heated arguements in Vent; may even be a professional and strive to be in the top guilds
Hardcore PVP: PVPing for hours and hours, often times getting insulted and on the edge of rage quitting; may even be a professional
Hardcore Guild: guilds only accepting players who know how to play and play to be leaders realm, country, and world wide
Hardcore Achievement*!@#$: someone who wants to have the most achievement points as available, often soloing or pugging groups solely for achievements and will often nerd rage because someone failed at a mechanic
Hardcore Pet Collect: one who collects all the pets and mounts; will often shell out real life money to add to collection
Kinda see where I'm getting to? To be hardcore, you have to be undeniably dedicated to the game. Especially if you're raiding or PVPing hardcore, and are in a hardcore guild. Collecting pets and achievements are more of a casual way of being dedicated to the game.
I log in everyday myself, but I don't consider myself hardcore. Casual? Yes. Would my boyfriend say I'm addicted, especially on raid days? Probably. Hardcore? Definitely not. I do have a plethora of mounts and pets (some that I have shelled money out for), have a good number of achievement points, and have a decent raiding guild that I chat with, but I don't consider myself hardcore.
Have you checked out the
Wowhead Guild Recruitment
thread? You can advertise for yourself, that you're looking for a guild, just
following the thread guildlines
.
Another place to check out are on your realm page (or any realm for that matter) on the official forums, on Tankspot, or even just paying attention to your own trade chat.

I want to be like the people in the pictures with the mics on and playing hardcore.!
Most raiding guilds, no matter how casual, use some sort of voice chat when raiding if that's what you're after.
Very few guilds (probably <5%) consider themselves hardcore these days. The ones openly calling themselves hardcore tend to be doing organised raiding 4-5 days a week.

Current raid content is at level 90, yes. There
are
raids before that, but few people do them and even less do them in any organised fashion.

I can agree with this, a few of my old guildmates & i transfered from a dead server and started to raid together, with one person who hasn't ever raided before and only started to play WoW in december. Her idea of raiding was mumble/Teamspeak etc, so as soon as we started to have problems using skype, she went ahead and purchased a mumble server for 6months. excited much? >_<

Leopardl,
Rystrave makes some very good points around the term 'hardcore', though I have been in 'hardcore' guilds who don't /rage or /ragequit during instances. I guess I was lucky.
The guild I run
is currently working on Guild dungeon achievements, which is in preparation for raiding. Currently, we run 2 instances together 2-3 times per week. The rest of the time is up to the individual, whether they choose to run instance to gear up, go have fun doing pet battles, or /rage in PvP. For a team to work well together, it is important to run smaller instances first to determine people's skill sets and capabilities and team-fit. Then, of course, proper gearing to the instance a team wants to target is also important. While a team at level 90 can solo the Molten Core level 60 raid like a piece of cake in quest greens (just as an example), it is impossible to accomplish success in level 90 (or even in level 85) raids without proper gear, enchants, reforges, etc. My guild is casual and still growing, definitely no where near 'hardcore', but you are welcome to join and grow with us, if you are so inclined.
