Lower levels can be pretty bad, unless you have a group of lower levels to play with. Everyone wants you to heal as a pug and you will be able to do pretty decent at it, even with feral spec. But you won't learn to tank, if that is what you are speccing for. Now I'm 80 and still learning and the margin for error on regular dungeons and heroic dungeons doesn't leave much to learn with regular, because it is really hard to mess it up. These are my personal experiences, but overall I love being a druid.
Being able to solo play is really nice, but that is what you will pretty much always do, or you will be pugging outside of your spec.
With dual specs coming soon(TM), this could turn into an even more fun class to play.

Started my druid a few months after Vanilla WoW came out, and i'm still playing it as my main without having ever stopped playing. What i like is the ability to change roles from tanking to dps(melee or ranged) to healing (requires gearing up and adapting playstyle, but allows you to see things from different point of views).
You do have less tools than other classes doing the same role for a given spec, but you can do more roles without having to change classes and are efficient everywhere.
My main alt is a warlock, it's still level 70 for the moment (though i might take him out soon as i'm starting to see the end of the reputation grinds).

The best part is that Druids are everything.
If your a Mage (who should be fun to play), you can only DPS. Different ways to DPS of cause, but it's basicly the same. If you ever got bored as a Druid, you don't have to relevel (as you would have to as a Mage).
So if I ever got bored as a Resto Druid (Won't happend. :D), I could just put on my Feral gear, and start DPS/Tanking! :)
THAT'S the beauty of Druids!
