Is philosophy dead?

Almost two years ago, Professor Hawking declared
philosophy to be dead
at a Google conference. Now, while I have great respect for the man, I believe reports of the demise of philosophy to be exaggerated (much like the purported end of history). I believe there are still insights to be gained from the conjunction of philosophy and mathematics for instance, in the fields of metamathematics and mathematical logic. Neuroscience interjects in the millennia old debate on consciousness, with Chalmers and Dennett representing opposing views on the matter. Psychology, computer science, linguistics and philosophy add to our knowledge of semantics.
Thoughts?

Philosophy is far from dead, just because it sometimes is just walking the same road it has done before does not mean it is no longer doing anything, we are at a point where most questions we have thought of have been asked but not all of them have answers yet, and as soon as we do get answers to more questions we should get new ones.
So in short not dead but not covering new ground at the moment.

Philosophy will never be dead as long as people keep thinking. Something about this latest generation, people seem to think that they have it all figured out. Yes we made great bounds in the past few years in technology, but that doesn't mean we have all the answers. Hell we still haven't come up with any unifying answers to some of the questions that Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle were pondering thousands of years ago.
From an education standpoint, Philosophy isn't the most useful degree to have. But there is no substitute for the analytically oriented thinking process it teaches you. Statistically, Philosophy majors perform the best on the LSAT, and second only to math majors on the MCAT.

Problems in philosophy are new, and older questions are sort of "dead horsed". We have a new era coming, of exciting new problems. Several new scientific discoveries will force us to ask hard questions about how to treat them. AI, cloning, world governance, etc. The meaning of life is becoming more complex, not less, and the application of these questions are more varied.

I feel that the philosophy of the nature of the universe and matter are becoming less relevance with the advent of science. However, philosophy of human nature and the mind are becoming more relevant with more and more people on the earth.

Trollfucious believe philosophy is alive and well. However, honorable mother does not believe that to be a philosopher is a job, and so says Trollfucious should get a job even though he is a full-time philosopher :(

philosophy dead? hahaha. everything that we are now originated from philosophy. if anything, it's getting bigger and bigger.
to fairness, wellness, health, longevity, and clear thinking, a person will be able to see life at a different perspective, above the shackles.
