I experience similar issue.
The problem is the raid experience doesnt award the same epicness that it did in previous expansions. Game is targeted towards less and less hardcore players, which surprisingly increases the whole grind theme present in between raids. Some people are bored with the grind and the excitment of the raiding cant surpass that. By hardcore players i mean people ready to spend 4 (or more) hours a day wiping endlessly on one encounter. Current wow players dont want that, they want free epics, fancy mounts and colourful vanity pets. The old just leave seeing that the game and community isnt what it used to be. I gave it a try for MoP even though i frankly dont like the whole idea, we switched realm to more populated and we even recruited enough people to start raiding.
-we chalked up 3 tanks. Two stopped logging without a word to anyone, one left because he didint fit the guild (he was an attention &*!@#). Had to reroll tanking after that.
-about 7 dps. Some stopped logging without a word to anyone. Some others left due to not being able to cope with the lack of raiding (due to absence of those that stopped logging without word).
-healing team is core so we didint recruit anything.
Mostly players joining us expected: community (and they didint get that because people werent on and present on gchat enough - how much can you grind those pesky dailies), free stuff (they got some), boosts on our progression (they got that), free loot (they got that, some didint so they left), boosting their alts and free loot for them (some even got that too), attention (they havent got enough it seems), miracles (everything going as they imagined).
As for statistics: www.wowprogress.com
best statistics you can get. Should have most of the recent tiers in the database.
Some vlogers did some material on that if you are interested:
