Sorry. Couldn't find this question clearly answered. And I know this won't matter come patch day.
Suppose I need to do a hard refresh (read non-instant) of isf. Is the haste buff applied on a per-cast basis or in real time, or more to the point, if isf runs out in the middle of a soul fire cast, does the cast slow down mid cast or continue at the 15% increased speed? I'm wondering whether I should be waiting until the last second to cast soul fire or if i should be casting a good 2 seconds or so early to ensure a high amount of time of the cast being spent in the buff. I hope this is clear.
I know it doesn't matter much, but I'm curious. Back to lurking.
the cast time the instant you start casting sets the cast time for the full cast.
even long channels like drain soul and hellfire will maintain the haste throughout even if the haste buff drops off after only a second.
so, yes, try to hard-cast SF
the iSF haste buff (before it fully drops off)
