Hello guys I'm new to the site but I have one question. Currently I have Mining and BS both maxed. I'm a Prot Warrior. I was wondering would it be ideal to drop mining for Enchanting? I'm sorry if this topic has already been discussed.

no. you really should keep mining and bs. mining increases your stamina which is good for tanks. and blacksmithing will get you your gear. in the next expansion pack there will be more stuff and without mining you gotta buy all the ores. enchantings for priests mostly, so id just buy the enchants instead of swapping.

This is VERY wrong. While it's true that you can purchase enchants from someone else or the AH, the perk to enchanters is the ability to enchant your own rings. For TANKS specifically, Mining will give THE SAME bonus with:
because the enchanting equivalent is
x 2 (one for each ring, or 480 stam total). However, mining ONLY gives the bonus to stamina, no matter your spec. With a DPS offsepc, you have the option to use
.
While it is true that for crafting things with BS you will need ore, you can always BUY the ore... you cannot BUY the DPS increase of +STR to rings.

For lower level mats (I think all the earlier expansions up to Cata), keep this in mind:
Weapons typically DE into essence
Armor typically DE's into dust
It's probably 90% probability to go that way, perhaps more. Keep an eye on your AH prices, every couple days someone who is leveling JC, Tailoring, BS, or LW will post a pile of greens at low prices that you can DE. If its stuff you don't need, you can sell it for profit and buy what you need instead. My rule-of-thumb is usually any green under 2g I buy and dust-- then always charge 2g+ for each dust that I sell (40-80g per stack). When you get 1-4 dust per item, it's an easy way to make a little bonus gold or to level enchanting.

Its difficult to have a character with to manufacturing professions. I would keep Mining and BS together, it just makes sense, and it becomes annoying to not be able to 'stop and pick up' those ore veins as you fly over them.
I have a character with maxed Tailoring, and Inscription, and although I have leveling alts supplying her with herbs, it's really annoying not being able to 'farm on the fly'. My other high level alts all have one gathering, one manufacturing profession, because I've learnt my lesson!
The comments above have valid points - about being able to enchant your own rings etc, but honestly, for me, my reasons are enough to keep one gathering profession and one manufacturing profession together.
