With a final look about for wither pursuers or avenue of escape should things go awry, the green robed wizard moved between the piles of scrap.

The voice belonged to a female character of somewhat androgynous appearance, with very slender features and pale skin. She was not much taller than the average inhabitant of Awe, but perhaps appeared so due to her thin frame. A silvery bob of a hair gave her face a somewhat feline appearance.
She whispered sharply when the Thief Wizard had approached: "Blow my steam and call me captain! You're a new one!"

The Thief had no idea what he had been just asked to do. Ergo he only answered to the latter with a jump and nervous looking about. "Wh-what! Ha ha! Ha. I...No, no. I am...I am merely an average citizen of your...your kingdom. Haha! What uh...what would give you that, very wrong, idea?" As he spoke, the wizard wrung his hands fretfully.

That was it. His cover was blown, and so swiftly too. Some might say that the Thief Wizard could have salvaged his false identity then: perhaps with mere stubborn insistence, or naming off a few locations that he came from, how their dress code was different, and also explain his accent and unfamiliarity with some of the terms the newcomer was using. To them one would only have to say what are you talking about? Think you know better? I'm the writer here you know. Call me a hack will you! Well, we can take it outside and I'll show you just what I think of your so called 'opinions'.
But no one said that, and as a result the Thief felt his shoulders slowly droop with disappointment, along with his head. "Through a hole," he said in a small voice while failing to make eye contact with the other.

The female's jaw dropped. "You mean...
that
hole?"
She didn't even indicate what she meant by 'that'. Nothing could be more clear than that 'that'.

"...Maybe," the Thief Wizard replied evasively, not entirely certain he knew what 'that' was. It was not very clear.

The pale creature apparently took the evasive reply for an attempt to hide something, and thus extrapolated that whatever the robed man was trying to hide must have been what she had suggested.

Drawing himself, the Thief Wizard thrust his chin out, threw up a finger and declared, "I!" He paused uncertainly. "...do not know..." The Wizard slowly trailed off. "I mean...no one even knew about this place. I thought it was just a new dungeon. Dungeons always have treasure."
