Hi Guys,
I had a look through the Priest forums and couldn't find anything that answered my question so,
I recently started a priest and am leveling shadow and am about to hit lvl 30 for dual spec and just want to know if holy or disc IYO is better as a healing 2nd spec based on the lower level spells and abilities available to me!
Cheers!

It doesn't matter, Holy vs Discipline. Holy is about throwing heals out, big ones, group ones, pulling group members back from the brink of death. Discipline is about preventing damage in the first place, with several fast, emergency triage spells.
Both are very useful; Holy's spells are more powerful, with more group healing, whereas Discipline has shields galore and threat management for other players.
Either way, if you choose to level as a healer, don't try to solo level. You are far better off levelling via random dungeons. Shadow is the DPS powerhouse, but being DPS, your queue times for dungeons will be longer than as a healer. However, Shadow is great for solo levelling.
One other thing about Discipline, but it mainly pertains to higher level play: you can heal at the same time as causing damage to mobs and bosses.

Thanks!
I was meaning it as a healing spec for random dungeons im loving shadow as a spec to quest with!
Okay so its just a choice between healing or having the option to do some damage whilst popping some heals!
^ this sounds a little more fun!
thanks.

Disciple tends to be faster in dungeons because you can do almost as much DPS as the actual DPS specs until somewhere in the 80s.
When you get Atonment at 38, all of the damage you do with Penance, Holy Fire, and Smite gets reflected onto a party member as healing (it targets lower-health allies automatically). This is usually more than enough healing for the average dungeon.
On top of Atonement healing, you have Power Word: Shield and direct heals.
It is very easy to visit your trainer and respec, so I suggest trying both and see which you prefer. I leveled exclusively as Disc way back when dual spec cost 1000g, but Shadow has significantly better burst damage now than it did back then.

I would really recommend Discipline, it being THE op spec at the moment at lower lvls.
You would want to do dmg in dungeons (Smite Smite Smite Holy Fire, repeat). At lvl 38 you get the Atonement, Discipline does more dmg than Shadow with the same gear, and Discipline dmg is healing the group. I don't know how you're geared, but my low Priest with full heirlooms and best gear gold and honor can buy casts shields that dungeon mobs cannot break through. And does more dmg than any other (even full geared) class.
It won't teach you how to heal, though. You'll need Holy for that - with mana problems (drinking and drinking and drinking between pulls) and dungeon wipes for experience. So it's either fun fun fun or learning.
