Leveling mining by only smelting

Would it be possible to lvl mining by only smelt ores in to bars?
Been wondering this for sometime now as I'm currently leveling a char's profs

No not all the way...you can do it until around 320 (not 100% sure on that number) but then u gotta hit a few fel iron nodes....then again at 340 every smelt you learn turns grey and you gotta go hit a few adamantite nodes so the answer is mostly but not all the way as far as the new stuff goes i just mined out in northrend so im not sure about smelting there

If you project to make a lvl 1 twink with +50stam, forget that. 3.1 will add a level requirement to benefit from the side effect of gathering prof.
