So i am lvl 28 now and i would like to know if there are some pets i should be on the lookout for.
I got a boar as first one, just because it was there, but now im looking for something more ''exotic'' or stronger or more usefull.
Open to any ideas.

well you can look up any pet here on this database through the
family tree's
, each tree has it own benefit. also each family is either:
ferocity: general dps oriented pets (mostly used in dung's/raids).
cunning: generally dps/pvp oriented pets (these pets are more commonly seen in PvP area's and less often in raids).
Tentacity: Tank oriented pets ( generally used for solo'ing especially harder content, since these pets gain boosts that give them more survivablity. but they lack damage compared the other 2).
in MoP pets can become all 3 tree's so one might see cunning turtle's and tentacity cats
you notice some of them are classified as exotic and can only be tamed by BM hunters who got the
Exotic Beasts
talent.
each family page also contains all the possible skins of that family and around what levels you can find it.
for example:
Cat
, cats have many different skins. if you see one that you like click on the name (like: TigerSkinYellow ) and you get this
list
.
i hope this helps you pick something you like having.

I'd recommend keeping a tenacity pet on hand for groups of mobs with thunderstomp while leveling. I use a turtle (Kresh from WC was my first 'vanity' pet, blue skin -

) for soloing instances and elites. The special for turtles is a shell shield that can come in very handy.
For everything else I use a spirit beast but any ferocity pet will tear through most leveling content. Look at each families special ability too. The cat special doesn't stack with other agility group buffs like MoTW if you group a lot. Keeping a couple dps options open isn't a terrible idea so you bring a little more to the table to cover buffs. For raiding if that's your thing, having lots of different buff pets can really be a force multiplier.
Like felhunter said, they are giving us more options in MoP with skins by letting all of them serve each role.
