Leveling Specs 70 - 80

The fact that each class has a spec that is usually regarded as "Autopilot" for leveling is no big secret. You level with one spec, hit 70 (or 80 now) then respec and run heroics/pvp/raids. In BC most classes had a clear leveling spec, pvp spec and raiding spec.

The beauty of this game has always been that you can usually make your class work with any spec even if it is not the recommended leveling spec, even if it does mean a slower more tedious grind.

Recently I've seen several people leveling with what would have previously been considered raid or pvp specs. I spent a lot of time getting caster gear for an elemental shaman and now I don't feel like respeccing to enhancement just because it is the "leveling" spec.

So my question to all of you out there that are leveling from 70 to 80 outside of your classes generally accepted and preferred "leveling" spec is this:

Why? Was the decision gear based as in the case of my shaman? Was it boredom? (I've been combat on my rogue so long I'm considering a respec just to try the new talents) and finally, How is it working out for you?

On my mage i lvled as Fire from 1-45 then went frost until 70 then i tried arcane leveled to 80 because it was the PvP spec and i figured that there was gonna be alot of ganking going on
