IMHO prot can level about as quickly as ret. Prot can do about as much damage, spread over more targets, and take on larger groups of mobs. I would say that prot and ret are about the same as far as leveling speeds past lvl 40. Before 40, ret is superior.

Its all a matter of opinion really :)
Yeah, do what you want and like. Ret is honestly probably a little faster overall, but if you like prot you'll find it easier to lvl because you will enjoy it.
