This is more complicated than it at first sounds.
Do you always gain triple XP?
No, only when you are partied with a character on the linked account and both players are present when slaying the monster or completing the quest provided that the monsters / quests are not trivial to any party member. Also, if the two characters are not the same level, only the lower-level character is given the experience boost.

Use leveling guides until about Level 30 for a priest.
Use

until 50, don't go shadow until you can get Vampiric Touch - this HONESTLY does better DPS until then.
Join a guild that will pay for your repairs.
Ugrade your wand every 2 minutes. You'll need it for those oom moments, or when mobs try to run away from you.
The first 30 levels are quite tough for a priest, but after that they'd beat any Ferrari to 80. You can even grind your way from 30 to 80 quite effectively with a priest (if you have a large music collection :p).

husband and I just bought a 2nd WoW account so he's leveling a kitty druid while i'm leveling a holy priest. He has BoA items so he's getting a LOT more xp, but we have RAF and as long as he occasionally skips a quest that I do, we're good. i'm at lvl 48 in about 4 days... I definitely recommend teaming up with a dps if you're leveling holy.
We're basically neglecting our professions to put leveling as a first priority. we'll go back and work on those once we hit 80.
we're only about a level apart so we get more XP from RAF than if we were further apart.
I use Quest Helper plus we've both leveled other characters so we basically know all the quests and don't have to spend much time on them.
We also skip training every 2 levels and only go every 4 or 6...
This won't work too well if you don't have alts to send you gold, because you really do need to spend money to train- get lots of big bags and visit the auction house when you do go to a major city if you don't have alts to send you g.
anyway, this is how i'm doing it and it's been pretty crazy- we actually managed to completely skip Stranglethorn Vale

Refer a friend for triple experience, and if you already have an 80 grind for conquest and buy all the bind on account items that give experience bonuses that you can.
Ok at the risk of being trolled, called noob etc, where and what is BOA stuff? Is that Heirloom gear? I found a guy in Dalaran that sells it for Honor badges. What does it do for my toon exactly?
