Levitate in 3.0.8
Return to board index
From 3.0.8 we can use our beloved Levitate on other people too. Now, I noticed that ending (and maybe starting too) levitate, for instance when you get hit by a mob when soloing, completely resets your current cast, as if you were moving. Can't this cause grievance among players? You normally don't want to annoy your fellow party or raidmembers, but it seems you can actually interrupt other players' casts.
I'm having flashbacks to Onyxia, where we would almost always snowball our tank when he's running in on Ony. Am I being too suspicious now? Or will this be a real concern? I certainly would be *!@#ed when someone would cast levitate on me on my 9th second of ressing someone and I have to start all over again.
God, I hope so! Since downranking was killed off I lost my ability to torture people by spamming rank-one itty bitty heals over and over until it drove them mad. I need new ways to bother people, and levitate is absolutely the way to do it.
With good timing, it can also be used to bother people who really need the ability to *jump*, not float, and to trap people underwater until they reach shore they can just walk up onto or realize they have to remove the buff.
Situational, but again - isn't that just the way with priests?

I was pretty sure you were wrong on this so I logged in and tested it, and i was correct
While casting a spell if you are hit and have levitate up it doesnt interupt a spellcast. You simply fall and the cast continues
BUT dont forget that there are many doorways and stairs that for some reason you cant levitate up (to annoy players) plus, if someone jumps off something you can make them overshoot by putting levitate on them (potentially landing far far away or perhaps aggroing mobs >:-) Think Marauden when you jump down from the waterfall, someone overshoots and lands right on one of the hydras, as lowbie example)
Im sure with some creativity and some lava (which if its like the BRD lava you cant levitate on it) you can still have fun
Also, gamon (the lovely little MCable mob in orgrimmar) has a new ability that kicks people, knocking them back (and off mounts) for some more fun ^^
Hmn. Now that I think about it, I recall a discrepancy. That is, if I lose the levitation debuff due to damage dealt to me, I do not lose a spell cast or channeled ability.
But I *have* lost spell casts due to levitation - but *only when it expires on its own*. This happens to me very often when fishing, if I forget to reapply the buff often enough. I'll have to test this later tonight, but I think that's the trick.
The question still is whether or not the act of being lifted by levitation itself will interrupt a spell cast or channeled ability - I call somebody on the PTR to try it out!

This is why you can only cast
Hand of Protection
on party members. :P
