I'd say that you'd probably get tired of the class, as they are very similar. I know that I got tired of my Rogue alt at ~23 (maybe I don't like alts in general?).
However, the classes do differ, primarily in the fact that we have to cast, and Rogues do not. This means we
cannot
get hit. At all. Ever. Which is what makes us so frustrating for Rogues and Warriors to kill. :) Some would say this requires more skill, which, while perhaps true, I would disagree with. It just means you need a different kind of skill to succeed as a Mage.

is mage just a far ranged rogue that i would get sick of?
yes. don't trade one "pewpewpew" class for another. roll a healing or tanking class

I agree with Sugarzombie, when I need a change of pace, I'll switch to my holy priest. You're don't act so much as react. The game is a lot different from a healing perspective, though in raids, it can be something similiar to Wack-A-Mole. You can definitely be the most valuable player in a 5 or 10man as a healer.

I would roll a druid to be honest... If you went rogue you probably got LW or if not get it with druid, since both classes share armor and some abilities, you'd fit right in. +Druids have the most versatility in the game, if you get tired of tanking, respec resto or moonkin. We have a taste of almost all classes except for hunters (hint-hint blizzard give us a new form).
