Logan Emery, Desigos
Dun Morogh
Logan took the mug, downing the drink quickly. Smacking the cup back onto the table, he sighed. "Maybe not a bad idea..." He glanced to the other's. "Let's go get some ribs."

Zero sighed, slipping his hands into the pockets of his vest and strolled through the portal into the cold winter air.

"From what we've seen so far? I wouldn't think so." Des replied. "Like I said, it's awaiting some form of catalyst. Whatever might set it off, I think it's safe to say it isn't being nestled in your hand."
He nodded, setting his books and tools aside. "But the question of removing it is going to require more than I have here."
Logan turned, following quickly.

Jonas wandered out the door and into the cold once more. He looked up and down the long single street whcih ran through the dwarven community. "Okay. Boars are to the east. So that away." He walked off around the inn. The snow reached above his ankles but his heavy boots more than sufficed as he forged a trail through it. The forest was not far, Kharanos edging it closely as if the trees had begun growing back up around it and no one had noticed quite yet.

Hollum floated out the shimmering gate, his robes fluttering in the frigid air. He stopped at a sharp yelp and turned to see Gee waist deep in the snow.
"O-o-oh my gosh! It's s-so cold!" she gasped, rubbing her forearms desperately.
"Yes. Somewhat." He quirked a finger up and a field of faded light encompassed Gee. She squeaked as she rose from the snow, hovering in the air near the void mage.

"Wasn't the ruins the ugly dwarf talked about also to the east?" Martin though out loud. "Well, one task first." The swede moved about in the snow, a few snowflakes geting down his boots, but nothing to worry about. For now.

JJ picked off a fishbone and washed down the current mouthfull.
- "Aye, it's good to know that they know how to cook here", he admitted. "I'm beginning to think I just might like our stay here."
The young man leaned back in his chair for a moment and let out a relax sigh.

"Well, Go- grhm,
Light
knows, I have no intention of giving up the joys of tasty food, comfortable bedding and, lest we forget, plumbing."
Mercer gave himself a mental brain duster. Almost slipped there. Remembering the lingo was crucial to their prolonged survival.
Meanwhile, the whole 'Holy Light' topic was something to consider carefully, among what felt like a ton of issues. Alistair knew on some level that relaxing was ill-advised, but after the rigors of the day he could not help but slow down a little. There would be time later to plot and brood, now he could just relish the fact that he was alive and well.
"So, a toast, then. Anything this place throws at us, we can and will overcome."

Booty Bay
JJ raised his glass with a nod.
- "And to not getting horribly murdered by magi", he chuckled. "Kippis".
His expression darkened for a few seconds as his native language escaped his lips. The glass stopped mid-motion and JJ staired at the liquid deep in thought. And then the moment was gone and he downed the drink with a grin.
Now was not the time to think about home. Survival first, inter-dimensional travel plans later.

Mercer studied J- no, he studied
Lance
. Even in his thoughts he had to keep the masquerade going.
Anyway, he studied Lance and did not miss the pause in the other's movements. After downing his glass, he glanced to the sides to see if anyone was looking, then leaned closer.
"Thinking about home, eh?"

- "Yes", JJ answered stairing something beyond this material plane. "I was just thinking about how we might be getting home from here. If there is a way at all I mean."
He sat in silence for a moment, collecting his thoughts.
- "But enough of that, more pressing matters are at hand"

Mercer tried a reassuring smile.
"Just remember the Caverns of Time," he spoke softly. "We can afford to be patient, we can take as much time as we need."
Of course, it was an open question of whether they could return home at all, let alone at the right time. Still, he could not help but think of the Caverns, and when he mentioned them aloud, at least he himself felt better. Words did have power, he noted for an umpteenth time.
"Now," he continued, leaning back against his chair, "To the matters at hand, such as they are. Lance, I'm glad we wound up here, glad that I didn't have to do this alone. I know I can get carried away easily. I hope you won't think less of me. I have a vague outline of a plan, and so far we've followed it. Now I'd like to hear if you have any suggestions. I'm bound to have missed something."

JJ scratched his nose as he considered their current situation and the foreseeable future.
- "One thing that comes to mind is to work out backup plan of somesorts", he spoke. "For example if we find a need to quickly relocate ourselves for what ever reason."
The young man poured himself another drink.
- "We could also try to learn a 'class' for ourselves. Although I am not at all sure how it would actually work in this reality. We have no idea about the rules of magic and if it requires some kind of aptitude in the first place."

"Agreed. Everyone keep their eyes open for boars," Jonas said, drawing Recheck.
"
FEED me their souls boy!
"
"Boars have souls?"
"
NO.
"
"Oh."
The forest had grown thicker as they walked, the snow a powder whcih covered everything. Though progress was slow through it, there were benefits as well, such as the hooved tracks they soon found embedded deep in the small amount beneath a tree, petering off into a deep furrow that climbed away into the deeper forest, new snow already beginning to fill the tracks.

"Yes, about that..."
Mercer tented his fingers in front of his mouth and looked intently at the other.
"Are you, by chance, a religious man, Lance?"
He knew for certain that the force the natives referred to as 'Holy Light' did not discriminate. So long as one believed that their actions were righteous, the Holy Light would readily come to their aid. The nature of actions did not matter, the existence of extremist organizations such as the Scarlet Whatevers proved that; the Holy Light could be used to murder and torment, so long as you were in the right state of mind for it.
Trouble was, faith and knowledge rarely went together, from Mercer's point of view. Something told him that his possession of this knowledge would deny him access to the divine power. And even if it did not, Mercer had... issues with faith and religion. As a corollary of his humanocentric outlook, Mercer abhorred the very idea of submitting himself to some higher, unseen power. It would take some kind of an epiphany to change his opinion, and for some reason he doubted he would ever have one.
For him, using the Holy Light was out of the question. But that need not be the issue with his companion.

Stitch
Dun Morogh
Stitch peered down the levelled barrel of his newly acquired firearm as they left the town, feeling quite silly when he took a series of imagined shots at various trees and rocks. He knew that the old smoothbore would be both inaccurate and horribly slow to reload and most likely more useful as a club, but if he got only one shot then he wanted it to count.
Jonas' wand ("Recheck") was not likely to make much of a difference, he found himself thinking. That one was more of a talker than a doer. There was of course potential for terrifying foe-turning-inside-out events and the like, but it seemed unlikely. Martin could be as full of air as the talking stick - it was highly unlikely that he knew how to
fecht
.
Logan had the boar spear and thus the best chances of survival, if he could direct the pointy end toward the enemy and they were stupid enough to run into it; ergo the enemy had to be a boar and nothing more intelligent.
All in all, there was only one conclusion to draw. The group needed a healer.

JJ cocked an eye-brow at the question. In his experience these kinds of conversations required a notable amount of alcohol as a base.

"Not really. I'll be blunt, the reason I bring this is up is simple enough: have you considered walking the path of a paladin? For someone from our place, you look comfortable enough in your armor.
"What you said about 'class' is true enough. We
need
tangible power, in the end of the day it's the only thing that's truly respected here. To quote the old maxim, 'it's called a world of
war
craft for a reason'."
He sighed and rolled his neck, "I have, how shall I put this, issues with faith. Otherwise I'd consider priesthood myself. I mean, we really should secure a means to heal at least minor wounds. The more autonomous we become, the better."

- "I see", JJ muttered.
Paladins, holy warriors who specialize in destroying the undead. Renowned for their conviction and combat abilities. JJ wasn't sure if he could become one, he didn't even believe in the Light. Instinctively his hand began to search for the cross necklace he had received after his confirmation. But he then remembered taking it off before starting to drink.
- "I really don't know if I can become one", he spoke out his doubts. "I don't think I would have the conviction to get the Light to answer me."
