Modifier to skip a spell?

I'm wondering if this will work as a macro:

#showtooltip Lava Burst
/cast Elemental Mastery
/cast Lava Burst

The functionality I'm looking for is that if Elemental Mastery is up I can just hold alt while I hit my spell button and it'll do both, but if it's off cooldown I can just not hold alt and it'll cast just lavaburst.

Try it. It certainly looks like it would work.

That should work, so long as there's not an alt+<keybind> already existing (for example, you wouldn't want to put that on F4, tab, etc).

a) It does work. (I was unsure if by not holding alt it'd see that as a failed cast and the whole thing wold come crashing down)

Yeah, macroexplain's a cool site, but it hasn't been updated for Cataclysm. It still works, but the mouseover text for spells hasn't been updated to the new IDs, and the new spells haven't been added.
