Ok so this may be a stupid question, but here it goes. I don't have Cata yet only Wrath of the lich King. So my question is can I get into Mount Hyjal without Cata so that I could maybe get some iLvl 289 or so gear? Thanks.

As far as I know. Anything connected to an expansion only unlocks when you have it.

So while you may be able to enter the zone. The quests would be off limits. Also any higher ilvl gear would be unequipable.

as far im aware, people are able too summon you there. but you wont be able to do any of the quest (including the introduction quest)

you are however able too use BoE uncommon and rare's that drop in cata aslong their low 80 or lower.
(although i suspose using the AH for this is easier/quicker then farming hyjal mobs or prehaps have LW/BS/Tailor make you some items)

really? though that was only when cata wasnt released yet and tried too enter the zones. ooh well geuss that using AH/crafting prof are only ways then for a non-cata account too get cata lvl 80 gear

False. I took a friend there that only had the battle chest at the time he was even able to use the portal back to Stormwind.

Yeah, you can get a lot of really good stuff on the AH, especially the craftable JC stuff.
