Key word there is attempt. My highest level hunter ever was level 10 and I know that's not how you kite.
To be 100% honest, if he's not a good friend, I'd ditch him. That or hope you can find a very good PvPer who won't mind helping him. And latch yourself onto a better player and learn from them.
