My auto attack interrupts lullaby spell

I recently camped for and tamed the pink crane. I've never used a crane pet before, so I'm not experienced with Lullaby. Whenever my crane casts it on a mob, my auto attack interrupts it--and that's the end of that. What am I doing wrong?

Well, sleep effects (like Wyvern Sting) break on damage like several other forms of crowd control (like ). I believe you're supposed to use lullaby to put extra enemies to sleep while you kill one, or to buy yourself time mid-fight, not to put the enemy you're currently attacking to sleep.

But then, I may be misunderstanding your question?
