Starting Past Sins. Finished with the prologue, and so far, it's freakin' epic.

Confound these ponies! They drive me to only get four hours of sleep! :(
This story should have a warning label. It's more addicting than super-heroin.

Finished Past Sins last night. That fan-fic was better than many novels I've read.

Had Rarity been in Nightmare Night, it probably would have gone something like this.
SPOILERS AHEAD
On the more important pony-related note,
episode 12, family appreciation day
, has released. It was pretty good, still not a Pinkie Pie episode, sadly, and even worse not a single Pinkie Pie scene in it. Heck, wasn't even any of the mane cast in it aside from Applejack, and even her role was limited.
The writers have seemed to grow fond of Apple Bloom, not that its a bad thing. She can have some pretty entertaining moments (see Cutie Pox), and she is easily the most relateable to the show's basic target audience. I'm just a little dissapointed by the lack of my favorite characters - Pinkie Pie/Fluttershy - having a chance for their own startng roles (I consider Hearth's Warming to have been another mane 6 episode instead of particular pony one, similar to the season intro episodes). Of course, given that they're both the two most static characters of the entire series, it makes perfect sense. Still, it saddens me.
The lack of mental breakdowns also is dissapointing. Sisterhove Social came close to Rarity's first
real
snap, but she just barely managed to avoid it. At least she kept in character, though.
Back to the episode itself, though. As always, the writer's astound me with the ammount of world-building their willing to put into the story. First Heath's Warming Eve and now Granny Smith's story about the founding of Ponyville! What's next? And, of course, we can't forget about the pun-filled cast names (Filthy Rich and Stinkin' Rich both made me grin when they were introduced). Oh, and the Timber wolves.
Timber
wolves, that was great. It also has the more mature humor that adults watching with their kids would get - such as the death glare on Granny Smith's mother's face in the flashback - that most kids shows today are missing. It's awesome.
That's about it, fingers crossed for Pinkie Pie or Fluttershy episode on the 14th!
EDIT:
Images range from the adorable to the hilarious.

(More spoilers)
Pretty good episode. Not top tier, but nice to have something new.
Pros:
Saw a rough map of Equestria (at least the part around Ponyville).
Timber wolves are awesome.
Learned how Ponyville was founded.
Cons:
It was a pretty slow start. By the time it got interesting, it was already two-thirds over. The first half was just Granny Smith being old.
Introducing Diamond Tiara's Dad causes a contradiction with Past Sins, which simply will not do!
Would have liked more ponies. We've had, what, four Applebloom episodes? When are we gonna get a Scootaloo episode? :(
Edit: Also, Morec, I was wondering if you and/or Patty wanted to be editors and/or co-writers on the ponyfic I'm working on.

Hmmm... I'll give it some thought and get back to you about it in one of the Q&A's.

As quoted from the Wizard of Terraria:
Someone once told me that friendship is magic. That's ridiculous. You can't turn people into frogs with friendship.
True story.

Me realizing this was a Pinkie Pie episode.
Me after watching the entire episode: Daaawwww.
It took me all of five seconds to figure out what the episode would be about. Oh almost forgot: the look on Mr. Cake's face after explaining the reason two earth ponies have pegisi and unicorn twins: priceless. Adds to worldbuilding too, genetics wise. Seems that there is always a dominant gene, and given that there is currently no mention of a pegasi and unicorn on each of the other parents family trees, it can be surmised that it is near-random what kind of pony the offspring will be when such couplings occur.
It was an ammusing episode, not quite Hearth's Warming level's of sheer awesome, but definately well written. (I, personally, would have gone with a sibling rivalry/overshadowed by new kids theme instead of the responsibility one, but the writers made good use of it) Pinkie Pie was as random as always, but toned down just enough to make her actions in character. The first baby pony was indeed nightmare-fuel esq, but it seems they fixed that with the new Cakes, they look absolutely adorable - especially Pumpkin Cake's noming bit. (Sadly, I cannot blame them for crying at Pinkie Pie's pig song)
Lastly: the hallway Amnesia-inspire scene. &*!@ING BRILLIANT! Came out of nowhere and gave me chills when I realized what was actually going on (a few seconds it, but still)! I grew up on Courage the Cowardly dog, where that kid of stuff was the norm, makes me happy to see such methods of subtle child-friendly scares have not totally been forgotten!
EDIT: As onen of the commentators put it:
2 minutes in "Too...cute..must...regain...manliness..." 5 minutes in "Call...a...doctor...need insulin..." 10 minutes in "D'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!" 15 minutes in "Falls on floor, rolling, mumbling something about butterflies..." Ends "Oh thank god...Now, lets do that again..."
So creepy.
That makes me wanna keep smiling Foreeevvvveerrrrr.
MAJ LITTLE POONYYY, MAJ LITTLEE PONNNYYYYYY!
Welcome to the herd/begon anti-brony! (hard to summise whether your taunting or not)
