Continue with Mining, and possibly grab and skill up Skinning as well. Also, the quest rewards in Northrend give quite a lot of gold (I'm lvl 73 and made about 700g so far just from quests). Just be patient and with a little time put into farming mats, you'll have your gold.
If WotLK is anything like TBC in the profession area, farming Outland ore should be quite profitable. Azerothian ore sold for a lot back in BC, because no one was taking the time to farm it yet people were still lvling up alts with finishing professions.

Well I'm level 80 ATM with 10000gold. Just level up, and you'll get the gold. Try to do both Borean and Howling Fjord, for extra money. Also if you can avoid doing any quests in Icecrown/Stormpeaks till 80 then you'll get more gold from the quests.

You can never not get gold. there are literally thousands of ways to make gold in WoW. Pick up gathering proffs, sell lowbie instance runs, do SSO dailies, run instances, do unfinished quests, go to northrend and quest, etc, etc etc.
Edit: And that's just at 70. Once you hit 80 there will be many more choices available.

I would suggest looking up the price of
thorium ore
, right now a stack is going for 90g on my server. Also, keep in mind that ore sells better than bars because JCers want ore to prospect. Getting thorium is easy these days since places like EPL, Winterspring, and Ungoro are ghost towns... err zones.
I would also suggest looking up the price on
runecloth
and
mageweave
. There are times when I've seen both sell for about 15g a stack. One run through Ulda could yield you a tidy profit (as well as an insanely low chance of getting
Pendulum of Doom
. :o)
