Hi, not a while ago I got owned badly by a warlock. The problem wasn't fear - it was CoEx...he was 4 or 5 (don't remember) levels lower than me and I couldn't kill him! Even when I had the jump. If i managed to get a hamstring off, he death coils me, dots me up, puts a CoEx on me and runs off....so my question is this...how do you get rid of CoEx? I know you can trinket out of it..but wouldn't he just reapply it as its an instant?
Do I suck or is it just that warriors are just gonna be kited everywhere?

Lunien: What level warrior are you? I presume you're around level 50 based on the things you said.
At level 30 you gain Berserker stance & one of your first moves is
Intercept
. Combined with
Berserker Rage
at level 32, I think you can handle him - you seem to be headed in the right direction.
Note: Berserker Rage does not prevent Death Coil (horror effect), but after he uses Death Coil he will only have a) CoEx and b) Fear. Hamstring+Berserker Rage combo could help you in that situation.
The real problem lies in the fact he was using a voidwalker; while he will not kill you with a VW alone, he can Sacrifice the VW and gain a damage-absorbing shield (temporary). You will have to deal more damage at this point to finish him off.

i was 52 then.
I charged, popped death wish, switched to zerker, hamstring..then I got death coiled, put a coex, and he ran to safety dotting me up, I couldn't even get in range to pop intercept...he didn't need to sac his VW
Sigh lol

The first thing you want to change is after your Charge, use Hamstring first. You may want to get a timing mod to visually show you when to refresh Hamstring, etc. In theory, the longer you take killing the warlock, the more likely you will die. The faster you're out of combat, the sooner you can eat to counter the periodic damage.
This brings me up to another point, let him run. If he gets out of range and your Intercept is on cooldown, let him run. Go to Battle stance if you can predict this, back up and Charge him again.
He's apparently relying way too much on Death Coil and because of this, we can't see what type of tactics he would use without it.
This leads one to conclude one of two things: a) he has no skill, or b) he has you figured out.
The way I'm thinking right now (forgive me, little rusty), when you Charged him, you wasted valuable time in the course of the battle. You had the surprise attack...and you blew it. He got away.
Immediately Hamstring him, forget popping Deathwish first because you can't increase the damage of your attack if he's not in melee range to begin with. So, keep him there with an immediate Hamstring; he was sitting there going, "What the...?! Oh, a warrior...using Deathwish. Better kite this guy, lol! Death Coil!" If you can perform more efficiently while he's unalert (if you keep ganking him in the same place, he will just stay vigilant). or unprepared, then he will have less time to react with a panic button named "Death Coil".
After Hamstring, use Mortal Strike for the immediate healing debuff; this scales with your life because it will limit his probable Death Coil and Siphon Life...you don't have time to let him heal considering he still has a Voidwalker he can Sacrifice as contingency.
You do have Mortal Strike, right?

yeah I have MS..but ok I charge him, thats 20 rage (I have imp charge). then I hamstring him, 10 rage. then i hit him, 10 rage back. I dont have enough rage to MS him though, i'd have to hit him again to MS. Ah well, lets just hope thats an isolated incident XD

Battlestance, charge, hamstring, switch stance to berserker stance. Pop berserker rage when he fears you. Only pop Death Wish after berserker rage is used up. Also, use your fear too - Intimidating Shout. Charge will generate rages, not use up like Intercept. Changing stance will keep those rage if you spec in tactical mastery. It does kinda suck we cant use charge while in combat so if he attacks you first you cant use charge. And at that lvl you shouldve been able to reduce cooldown of your intercept by 10 sec (now that weapon mastery is replaced with intercept). Use pummel too.
At lower lvl, warriors are at disadvantage against other classes on 1v1. You have to be on top of your game with good gears to beat them. Once you reached 70, you'll eat warlocks and rogues for lunch most of the time. However locks dots will eventually kill you too hehehe.

@Nossy
From his testimonials, the warlock doesn't use Fear, but simply Death Coils him away. He's dying from being kited, basically.
Listen to Nossy, good info.
Hopefully you've been gaining experience against warlocks since your lastbattle, good luck!

Death coil is an instant cast that last 3 sec and has a 2 min cooldown. A good warlock wouldn't use this ability to start a fight, but to get out of terrible melee situation.
As a warrior, your first priority in gear selection is to chose gears with stamina. Stack as much stamina as possible so it can hold you while you are kited. Try to save intercept so you can charge him when you're out DC. Use pummel also.
It gets easier when you're at lvl 70 as you have alot of abilities available, gears with mad stamina, and 8-10k life.
A lock at 4-5 lvls lower than you shouldve been easily taken down.

According to his descriptions, this warlock is relying on Death Coil to remove himself from melee range as a victim. Lunien is having trouble being kited and as much as we tell him, he has to learn it.
Lunien:
You have the tools available and their uses have been clearly illustrated. Now you must gain combat experience & to put what you have read to practical use.
Good luck & have fun!
