The thing to keep in mind might be the procrate: NES might have a lower PPM or percentage than MR does.
No clue if that's the case; I'm just speculating.

Keep in mind that this is a 5man heroic but it won't be like nexus or HoL... There drop ilvl232 while in normal heroics drop ilvl200. I expect it will be really hard for an average pug that think "this is only a heroic, who needs epics to faceroll this?"
I said the same thing about H ToC when it launched and it turned out to have a jousting mechanic that helped alleviate the gear need somewhat. I imagine the gunship battle will serve a similar purpose.
Yeah, you're probably not going to be able to blow through it in questing greens and blues, but I don't imagine it being a "YOU MUST BE IN ULD 10 GEAR OR BETTER" type situation.

so basically what your saying is.for like if my guild farms toc 10-25 everyweek and does ulduar hard modes it should be faceroll.but if i walk into the place with a average pug im going to get wtfpwned?
I would say that depends on the level of skill found in your server's average pug. PUGs have less synergy than guild or friend runs but I highly doubt it will be next to impossible to pug. That isn't exactly the direction Blizzard has been going with their content release. They seem more willing to make things available to the general population (which consists of only
decent
players) than serving the small minority of extremely skilled people. You probably won't need to be in all epics to do something, but going in with half greens directly after hitting 80 probably isn't an option until the first round of nerfs come about.

While the raid gunship battle does use the gunship to attack the other gunship, those vehicles should scale with gear, and their is lots of normal attacking as well (like a Pirate, you have to board the ship and repel boarders).
Regarding the trinket, Mjolnir could be better because it can proc off a hit attack while the Needle can only proc from a crit attack.

NeS has a lower proc rate than the MR or GT because of the on crit versus the on hit buff of the others and because the proc rate has been nerfed since the Arp proc has been increased . But yea if you cant find a naxx25 grp or kill Thorim10 hm its a godsend .
