The only way to get a higher rank in mining is to either got to Outland or Northrend and talk to a mining trainer.

Hello, I upped to mining 300 and i had some bad results...

I lost the My stamina droped 70 and i lost about 700 health with this... I up the thoughness and lost Hps? lol

Answer: I can see that your currently at 300 Mining, did you increase it's level recently? There was a known issue with the passive bonus the profession adds, (Toughness Rank 3) in that it was awarding +70 Stamina Rather than health as stated in the Tooltip. Leveling to 300 mining would have increased you to Toughness Rank 4, which would cause your character to lose the unintended +70 Stamina.

Yeah it's supposed to be fixed in the next patch according to the notes, it must kind of suck to see your health drop so quickly, and it must be kind of cold comfort to know it wasn't supposed to be that high in the first place.
