to abandon a pet:
1. summon your pet
2. right-click the pet's portrait
3. select abandon
4. get a new pet ~~devilsaur~~ Gorilla :)

Ok, there are no pet trainers anymore. In order to get your pet skills you just level it up and it automatically gets them. Your pet also gets talent points and its own talent tree. At level 20 your pet recieves its first talent point and you get 1 more point for every four levels your pet gains. IE 24,28,32....

You right click on your pet and click abandon. That will get rid of it.

Not entirely true. There are still pet trainers.....but they no longer teach anything. Instead, they are used to "respec" your pet talent points. You can go to them and pay a minimal fee to "unlearn" your pets talents, so you can then spend them again how you see fit in the talent calculator.

Often used when you want to respec a pet to do a certain encounter, or pvp, then respec back to farming, etc.

Not used as often, but still helpful for when you wish to move a point or two to resistance, or something.

the pet trainer is located near the hunter trainer in city zones.
