Look at the stickies for leveling/pvp guides, even though most are geared towards level 80s.
Most people die at 2v1 anyways, it's not anything to worry about.

Like Shadowfoot said, spec fully in frost only. Don't use AM, it burns way too much mana.

(could be altered to your own preference, I like frost channeling & precision due to less downtime)
For now, to fight multiple mobs: Always make sure you got your int buff + frost armor on. Go max distance and spam frostbolt & try throwing out a fireblast whenever you can. When they get in range use frost nova, step out of their hitting range and keep on using frostbolt. Don't be afraid to take a few hits.
Your frost bite talent will help you a lot freezing your targets every now. If things get tight, remember you can always blink away, fireblast is an instant spell, and a quick bandaging job might save your life at times.
At level 20 you'll unlock blizzard, which is a great help for handling multiple mobs at the same time. I guess the general rule is: only use blizzard when you're facing 3 or more mobs at the same time. I'd recommend avoiding 3+ groups until you get ice barrier though.

Just a little note. AM burns way to much mana only if you're overkilling a mob with it.
All 3 spells do more or less the same DPM in lower levels.AM does cost a lot more mana than FB or FrB, but it does a lot more damage too, allowing you to kill mobs quicker. The problem arise when you overkill a mob.
For example, if a mob has only 50 hp left, and you cast an AM which does 300 damage, you've effectively wasted 250 damage, and it's associated mana cost. It's not that bad for FrB or FB, simply because both deals less damage, and the mana cost associated with it. :)

IMO frostbite is much better than piercing ice at low levels. 6% of your damage when you deal ~100 damage is pretty much useless.
