Nothing is easy until 40. Prepare for some rough times between now & then :)
At level 20 you can get Mind Flay. You should certainly spec shadow for leveling at this point, as you will be able to heal just fine in instances without any talents in holy. Even if your plan end-game is to heal, leveling shadow until at least 50 or so will be much less unpleasant. Then, if you prefer the holy dps style, you can switch to a Surge of Light holy/disc build, which can take you to 80 without too much trouble.
