If the recipe isn't working for you, I'd either look for it way down on your list, it might've already been gray at the time you learnt it, and the sorting in Professions can be kind of 'off' at times. If you still can't find it, either forget about it (since it really doesn't matter all that much) or contact a GM, as they'll be the only ones able to assist you.
Also, when you're looking for info on Professions, just use Wowhead, it has a handy searc function ...

One of four things could be up with the recipe not showing up:
1. The recipe was gray when you learned it, and is thus not where you think it would be in your cooking list.
2. Your cooking list is being filtered (make sure nothing is in the filter text box and that "hide uncraftable" is unchecked.
3. Something happened during the process used to update your cooking window, or you're using an addon that has to 'scan' your professions in order to work. If this is the case, typing /console ReloadUI(); into the chat window and hitting enter or hitting the rescan button on your addon should resolve the issue.
4. You didn't actually learn the recipe XP
