Although i haven't as of yet changed my weapon to dual wielding and i'm struggling to take on NPC's.
Previously i could take on 5 or 6 lvl 74ish with no problems. (i'm lvl 74)
Everyone is. Mob HP and damage output has been upped, significantly at some points, while everyone's (not just DK's) dmg output, healing throughput and overall survivability has been lowered. TL:DR, they made the game harder.
At 85, even with some epics, I find that any more than 3 mobs (4 with Cd's) can prove fatal. It's not you, blood is the default tanking tree, and as such you always stay topped even against a group, but things die SO slowly. As frost, you trade that kind of survivability for great damage. They did away with the whole "all-3-specs-can-do-all-3-things" mentality.
For staying alive, you will have to learn to blow Cd's and utlize much more than previously. As I posted in another thread, for self healing:
Compared to pre-cata, Frost and Unholy healing is painfully weak. They gutted Death Pact a little bit ago. The problem is that while 7% hp DS is decent, using it twice pretty much leaves you with just blood runes, which can drastically hamper killing speed. :(
-Deathstrike as often as possible
-Pick up first aid for out of combat heals (or use HC as deep frost, and bandage away, as pathetic as that is.)
-LB + self-DC
-Raise Dead + Death Pact.
This is just a fact of
the game now, you'll have to learn to adapt. Also, you can play frost as 2h, there is a talent
opposite to ToT
to make 2h viable. As Fjh13 said, the dmg is great. All three trees have changed greatly, i suggest trying them all out, and seeing what you go best by. Don't forget glyphs!

I designed it for max damage and fast killing, so stuff isnt beating on you forever. Use frost presence. Next, you can put points into Unholy Command for super-grip, or into bladed armor for even more Dmg. Up to you.
