Define a bit more what makes you want to try out raiding, that's a question that will certainly be asked in your applications and thinking about what you want will also help you to find the right guild. Character improvement, seeing new fights, competitiveness, accomplishing things as a group, ...
Also reflect upon what you want to do in terms of schedule and are able to commit to (all weekends, 3 evenings a week, 5 a week, ...). Raiding guilds recruit people for long term commitment, agreeing to the schedule for 1 month and then bowing out is not good.
Next is a bit of social skills (ability to integrate a community and mesh in, ability to learn, know when to have fun and when to be serious, being able to wipe for one whole night without getting too frustrated, ...) and that's about it for you.

Then it's about your character (gear, talent choices, skills, ...) which has to correspond to what type of activity/content that guild you are applying in will be doing and which you will have to be able to showcase (theory through forums or in game).
